Spot-tailed Quoll
The Conservation Ecology Centre at Cape Otway will use a team of dog handlers and their dogs to search for Tiger Quoll scat. The dogs are being trained by the CEC in conjunction with Canidae Development to detect quoll scat and indicate a find through passive behavioural responses so as not to disturb native wildlife. Conservation Dogs have the potential to increase the number of Tiger Quoll detections drastically. The first deployment of the Otway Conservation Dogs will be in 2014.
